YOUR PURPOSE AND FUNCTION IN OUR COMPANY:

The Underwriting Specialist will work to advance organizational capability and performance through the execution of key SBU initiatives.  The Underwriting Specialist will:

  • Manage assigned SBU initiatives, acting as Owner and Lead as appropriate:
    • Consistently contribute meaningful SBU expertise/acumen in support of initiatives
    • Identify and assist in the development of business cases, return on investment projections and anticipated impact for internal and external initiatives. 
    • Collaborate with SBU Leadership to prioritize and propose strategic initiatives, managing resource for optimal advancement
      • Develop business requirements in support of identified initiatives
      • Coordinate advancement of objectives with PMIC business partners (Project Management Office, Internal IT, Actuary, Product Development)
    • Coordinate (in conjunction with IT QA team) system-related testing protocols 
    • Assist in managing group of existing business partners/vendors, making recommendations for improvement/advancement.
  • Act as technical expert and/or subject matter expert for SBU
  • Provide leadership within departmental discussions and meetings
  • Interact with core business staff to identify enhancements of highest need (product/process)
  • In conjunction with Underwriting Managers, identify and advance SBU organizational capacity and efficiencies
  • Develop, communicate, and maintain repositories for procedures and guidelines
  • Develop rollout strategies for SBU advancement initiatives, lead communication and training plans.
  • Organize and facilitate technical training for underwriting staff and new hires
  • Conduct underwriting quality audits
  • Partner with core business operations on assigned functions as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Completion of advanced professional development coursework including, but not limited to; CPCU, CIC, SCLA, ARM, AU or equivalent at Company discretion
  • Minimum of 5 years of property/casualty experience or equivalent at Company discretion
  • Demonstrated track record of making key contributions to organizational initiatives including, but not limited to, proposing/presenting initiatives, writing business requirements, and utilizing acumen in advancing business needs
  • Broad understanding of Company operating systems and associated workflows
  • Strong time and project management skills that support continued process improvement, as well as the achievement of goals and objectives
  • Excellent oral and written communication, listening, team building, organizational and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and proactively respond to consumer/market/technological needs by recommending capabilities that advance the performance of the organization

The base pay range for this position is $69,000-$100,000 paid on a salaried basis. The rate offered to any candidate will be reflective of the candidate’s experience and any relevant education, certification, or qualifications related to their ability to perform the responsibilities of this position as permitted by law.
